Bickty · Privacy
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Bickty collects, why we need it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it the way we would want it explained to us.
We collect what we need to run a social cycling app: your account, what you post, your rides, the Field Kit data you choose to sync, and limited technical information for security. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. You can edit your profile and delete your account from inside the app.
01Scope and controller
This Privacy Policy applies to the Bickty iOS app, the Bickty API and services that support it, and this website (together, the “Service”). It does not apply to third-party services you may reach through Bickty, such as the Apple App Store or websites linked by other users.
The controller responsible for your personal information is the Bickty team (“Bickty,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). You can reach us about privacy matters at support@bickty.app.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that we will handle your information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
02What we collect
We collect information in three ways: you give it to us, we receive it automatically, and Apple provides it to us when you choose Sign in with Apple or make a purchase.
| Category | Examples | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Account and identity | Username, display name, password (stored as a salted hash, never plain text), Sign in with Apple user identifier, account creation date, account status. | To create and secure your account, let you sign in, and identify you across devices. |
| Profile | Avatar and cover image, bio, a location you type (for example, “Hudson Valley, NY”), riding tags, follower and following relationships. | To build your profile and help other riders find and understand you. |
| Content and activity | Posts, comments, likes, follows, friend requests, blocks, rides you create or join, reports you submit, and gifts you send or receive. | To operate the community, show activity, and enforce our community rules. |
| Media | Photos and videos you choose to upload, plus basic file information such as media type and size. | To publish and display the media you attach to posts or your profile. |
| Field Kit | Bike setup, tyre pressure, gear ratios, maintenance and ride logs, fuelling and hydration preferences, and related settings you enter. | To provide the Field Kit tools and, if you are signed in, sync them to your account. If you use Field Kit as a guest, this data stays on your device. |
| Purchases | Gift product identifier, quantity, Apple transaction identifier, and the post or rider the gift relates to. We do not receive your card or bank details. | To deliver gifts, keep records, provide support, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations. |
| Technical and security | IP address (used for rate limiting and abuse prevention), device user agent, session timestamps, and error or request metadata. | To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and maintain reliability. |
| Support communications | Emails and information you send to support, including screenshots if you choose to attach them. | To respond to your request and keep a record of the issue. |
What we do not collect
- Precise location. Bickty does not request location permission and does not track your GPS location.
- Contacts, calendar, or health records. We do not access your address book, calendar, Apple Health, or similar sources.
- Advertising identifiers. We do not collect your IDFA or use advertising SDKs.
- Tracking across other apps or websites. We do not track you for advertising, and our app privacy manifest declares no tracking.
- Camera, microphone, or photo library without your action. Access is requested only when you choose to take or attach a photo or video, and you can decline.
If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide your name and an email address or private relay address, depending on what you choose to share. We use that information only to create and operate your account.
03How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Create your account, authenticate you, and keep you signed in across sessions.
- Provide the community features — profiles, feeds, posts, comments, likes, follows, friends, rides, gifts, and reports.
- Sync and restore your Field Kit data when you are signed in.
- Display your content to other users and let them interact with it.
- Moderate content, investigate reports, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the safety of our community.
- Process and record gift purchases, prevent fraud, and resolve purchase issues.
- Respond to support requests and privacy requests.
- Maintain the security and reliability of the Service, including rate limiting, debugging, and preventing abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to valid legal requests.
- Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it, using aggregated or de-identified information where appropriate.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we do not sell it.
04Legal bases (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that requires a legal basis, we rely on the following:
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that happened before the withdrawal.
06Cookies and tracking
The Bickty app does not use cookies or advertising identifiers to track you across other apps or websites. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
This website and our API are delivered through Cloudflare, which may set strictly necessary security cookies or process technical information — such as your IP address and request details — to protect the Service from bots, abuse, and attacks. These are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. We do not run analytics or marketing cookies on this site.
Your browser or device may have settings that limit cookies or reset identifiers. Because we do not track you, we do not respond differently to “Do Not Track” signals.
07How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
When you delete your account from inside the app, we mark the account as deleted, revoke your sessions, anonymise your username, and stop showing your profile and content to other users. Backup, cache, security, and archival copies may persist for a limited period while they rotate out of our systems.
Some records may be kept for longer where we have a legitimate reason or a legal obligation, including:
- Gift and transaction records, for accounting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
- Reports and moderation records, to enforce community rules and protect riders.
- Security logs and technical records, to investigate abuse and maintain the Service.
- Records needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.
08Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encrypted connections (TLS), salted password hashing, token-based sessions with rotation, access controls, and rate limiting. Our infrastructure provider maintains its own security programmes.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorised access, loss, or misuse will never occur. If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where required by law.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for the security of the device you use to access Bickty.
09Children
Bickty is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are between 13 and 18, you may use Bickty only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to Bickty, contact us at support@bickty.app and we will take appropriate action.
10Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Access — ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correction — fix inaccurate or incomplete information. You can edit most profile details directly in the app.
- Deletion — delete your account from Account → Delete account, or ask us to delete specific information.
- Portability — ask for a copy of information you provided to us in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Restriction and objection — ask us to limit or stop certain processing, including processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — withdraw consent for camera, microphone, photo library, or notifications through your device settings.
- Complaint — complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can find your authority through your national government or the European Data Protection Board.
How to exercise your rights
Email support@bickty.app from the address associated with your account, or include your username so we can locate it. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request. You can also authorise an agent to act on your behalf, subject to verification.
We will respond within the time required by applicable law — generally within 30 days, or 45 days for requests under California law, with an extension where permitted. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
Account deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account in the app. Deletion is irreversible. It removes your profile and content from public view and revokes your sessions, but does not entitle you to a refund of gifts already purchased.
11California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA”), gives you specific rights. This section describes how they apply to Bickty.
Categories of personal information
In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information:
| CCPA category | What it includes at Bickty | Disclosed to |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Username, display name, account identifier, Sign in with Apple identifier, IP address, device user agent. | Cloudflare (hosting and security); other users (public profile). |
| Customer records | Profile details, bio, typed location, avatar and cover images, account settings. | Cloudflare; other users (public profile). |
| Commercial information | Gift purchases, transaction identifiers, quantities, and related records. | Cloudflare; Apple (as payment processor). |
| Internet or network activity | Posts, comments, likes, follows, rides, reports, sessions, and interactions with the Service. | Cloudflare; other users (public activity). |
| Audio, electronic, visual, or similar information | Photos, videos, and audio you choose to upload. | Cloudflare; other users (when you post them). |
| Sensitive personal information | Account log-in credentials (username and password). We use these only to authenticate you and secure your account, not to infer characteristics about you. | Cloudflare (encrypted storage). |
Sources
We collect these categories directly from you, automatically when you use the Service, and from Apple when you use Sign in with Apple or make an in-app purchase.
Purposes
We use these categories for the purposes described in Section 3, including providing the Service, security and moderation, purchases, support, and legal compliance.
Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted by the CCPA without your consent.
Your California rights
- Right to know — what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, or sold or shared.
- Right to delete — request deletion of personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we use sensitive personal information only as permitted to provide the Service and secure accounts.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny you the Service, charge different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right.
- Right to use an authorised agent — you may designate someone to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification.
To exercise these rights, email support@bickty.app with your username and the request. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days, with an extension where permitted.
California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code § 1798.83) allows California residents to ask about personal information disclosed to third parties for direct marketing. We do not disclose personal information for direct marketing.
12International transfers
Bickty is operated using infrastructure provided by Cloudflare, which has data centres and operations in many countries, including the United States. Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, and those countries may have different data protection laws.
Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers — such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or other lawful mechanisms — and we take steps to protect your information consistent with this policy. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards we use.
13Third-party links and services
The Service may link to websites or services we do not control, including links shared by other users. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any third-party service you visit.
Apple’s handling of your information is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not this one. You can review it at apple.com/legal/privacy.
14Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will give additional notice — for example, in the app or by email — where reasonably possible.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated policy. If you do not agree, you can stop using Bickty and delete your account.
15Contact
